"KICK OFF GIVEAWAY"

"Ideas for future challenges"

Starting today until December 31st, leave a comment on this post with your challenge idea, and you'll be entered to win!

For anyone who doesn't know, here is an explanation of what a "challenge" is: A few times a year, the PieceMakers come up with an "idea" or "theme" that we will all try to create in mosaic form... something like "create your best mosaic birdhouse", or maybe, "make a mosaic beach scene". It can be something big & crazy too, like "create a mosaic chair". :)

A challenge represents a time for us to break from what we normally do, and a chance for us to see what each of our unique creative brains come up with.

So, get your friends involved & hop on over here and enter.

It couldn't be any easier!

How about a small (2 to 3') Greek statue brought to life and clothed in timeless mosaic expression?

When I first read your name I read it as PeaceMakers, which ended up giving me an idea with all of the chaos going on in the world right now.

I would like to see a challenge that best represents Peace Making to you and your fellow artists.

It could represent an idea of what peace means or what it should be, or what makes you feel most at peace. It can be on any shape or on any object, but it must relate to peace.

how about a mosaic mailbox?

There are lots of great ideas here. It will be tough to choose only one for a favorite. How about an animal? That would be something new for me.

I mentioned to do a door or a window in your house Chelle.

What I would love to see is a beautiful garden scene represented in mosaics, something like Keukenhof Gardens in the springtime.

I would also love to see a famous work of art represented in mosaics...doesn't have to be a literal interpretation, but somehow it would relate to a famous work of art, like a mosaic representation of a Monet garden scene, or a Van Gosh Starry Starry Night.

And now for something practical. Years ago some acquaintances opened up an adorable country-style quilt shop. In the bathroom, they mosaic'ed the toilet (just the lid and tank top as I recall) and countertop, all with broken china. It was stunning!

What about using the "Bagua" from Feng Shui. There are nine areas in the "Bagua" using elements, colors, shapes, & numbers to define each area. I'm sure some creative ideas could come from using one of these areas.
