I'm honored to introduce you all to Patti, owner of OceanKisses on Etsy. This first mosaic window is one of her recent works, and one of my favorites!
What's your real name? How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
My real name is Patsy and even though I sign my art work with that name, I go by Patti. Of course, my family and Jesus still call me Patsy.
My shop name is a combination of two of my favorite things: the ocean and Hershey's Kisses...oceankisses.

How long have you been creating mosaics? What was your first piece?
I've been creating mosaics for about 2 years now...possibly a little longer. My actual first piece was a little box and frame from a kit someone gave me one Christmas. But the first piece I did on my own was a small back-splash I have hanging over my bathroom sink.
What other kind of art do you create?
Oil Painting, Watercolors, Airbrush painting, jewelry-making, beading on leather, writing poetry, prose, short stories, and music.
What kind of shows have you been a part of? Have you won any prizes or gotten some kind of cool recognition for any work?
I've had some of my oil paintings in a gallery years ago, and in 2010 I won 1st place in one of our PieceMakers challenges.

What would be your dream to mosaic?
I just finished my largest mosaic (22" X 32") and it was sooooooooooo heavy! I don't want to do any more large ones unless they are an installation. I'd love to do a wall, like maybe a bathroom wall or a kitchen wall.
Is being an artist your full-time job? What other jobs or hobbies consume your time?
I'd like to devote more time to my art and have taken steps to insure I have more time this year. I have owned a house-cleaning business since 1980. I do that part time now.
Tell us about your family, daily life, or about the area where you live.
My boyfriend, Big Daddy (as I refer to him online) and I have been together for 9 years. We've both been previously married twice and are not in a hurry to marry again.
I live in Southern California, San Diego County. I live in a valley city called El Cajon (in Spanish it means "the box") that is surrounded by mountains. It was originally a small town where the gold miners would first stop their wagons when coming down from the mines in the mountain areas.

What are some of your favorite things about being part of the PieceMaker?
My fellow members are the best people! The leadership is fantastic. It's a great place to get inspiration, advice, and support. I love seeing the artwork that others are creating. If I don't hit our team forum every day, something is missing from my life.
