Entry 1
Moonlit Soul, by Mycentir Mosaics
Measures 12 1/4 in x 17 1/4in
"Moonlit Soul pictures an ever watchful barn owl in the night in front of the moon. I wanted to simulate the idea of a bird through different textures and colors in this piece. The idea is repeated through the tree trunks rough textured bark, streaky colored patterned glass, and even down to the hand cut and stained frame. I hammered metal pieces against the wood to create a scratched effect."

Entry 2
Rhody, by Flowering Moon
"I call this piece 'RHODY', after the Rhode Island Red Rooster, which is
Rhode Island's State bird. The frame that I used has a very rustic
look, and is multi purposed; so this piece can either be hung on a wall
or displayed on a piece of furniture. It measures 11 1/2" x 13 1/2".
Entry 3
"This little bird measures 4 1/4 inches from tip of beak to tip of tail
and stands about 1 3/4 inches tall. It is mosaiced on both sides with
black, yellow, and orange stained glass pieces. The bottom and top are
painted black."
Entry 4
Hoot By The Light Of The Moon, by Renegade Rose
"This piece is actually 2 substrates put together, one for the owl on a
branch and the other for the moon. A special shout out to Pam and Bob at
ZZBob's for the beautifully cut substrates! The owl is done up in
shades of brown and cream stained glass with painted grout to highlight
it's features. The eyes are glass eyes that I made, and are available in
my etsy shop. The radiant full moon is done with mirror and speckled in
grey stained glass. The stars and leaves are custom made for this piece
out of polymer clay, painted and sealed. The entire piece is sealed
with clear gloss spar urethane.
Measures 15" tall by 14" wide. Measurements include the suspended stars and leaves."

Entry 5
"The title is "Mama's Dreams". They are 8x10 inches each, and made to hold
photos of someone special. They are shown with my 2 perfect
grandchildren."
Entry 6
"I took the seagull from the first stained glass window my dad ever
made, it was our bathroom window for many years. I knew as soon as this challenge was announced that I would be doing
something with his window. I had found the frame I used a few years ago
at a garage sale and decided that I would create a mosaic beach scene
with the seagull as the feature piece. I loved the book Jonathon
Livingston Seagull and when I was younger, I always called dad's window
Jonathon after the book. I draw many parallels in my life to Jonathon
and am so pleased to put my passion of glass and more recently mosaics
to use creating something so meaningful to me. I have placed two rocks
in the piece, one saying hope and the other faith to always remind me
how important these both are in my life, and that I can achieve anything
because of this."
Entry 7
The Contented Willow, by Frances Green "The contented Willow finds happiness in birds of all colours and sizes. Who says Birds in the bush are worth less anyway? "
Entry 8
Miss Hoot, by Alice GarrettRecycled Art
12.5" x 15.5"
"Although a little timid, Miss Hoot is truly excited about being in the challenge. She was very careful selecting just the right hair accessory for the occasion."
Entry 9
The Guardians, by Pal's Creations"The Angels remind me of my two beautiful granddaughters and my plan is to hang this in their bedroom."

Oh my gosh! I'm nearly speechless after viewing all these magnificent mosaics! My thought after seeing the first few was "How in the world will I be able to choose just one?", but after considerable thought, I did. It was so, so hard. Congratulations to you all for creating such beautiful works of art!
I agree with Tina ~ it is going to be hard to choose just one with so many magnificent entries! Wonderful job fellow team mates! I am thoroughly impressed and proud to be a part of this team!
